I landed a career I loved. I learned to love myself. And I finally saw my abs for the first time.

Behind every transformation in my life has been a guide that showed me the way.

When I was looking to change careers from HR to UX Writing, I had a dedicated mentor with decades of industry experience that helped me shape my profile as a career changer. I had the confidence to build and review a kick-ass portfolio that helped me land my first UX Writing role with a major tech company.

After struggling with anxious attachment issues in dating for years, I finally started working with a therapist. He helped me not only cope with these issues, but encouraged me to foster an entirely new outlook on life. I finally love every part of myself, approach dating from a place of calm non-attachment, and have made dating fun instead of a stressful, perfection-seeking endeavor.

When I finally decided enough was enough and wanted to become the fittest version of myself, I hired a fitness coach. I developed the mindset that I could achieve my dream body and put in the work at the gym and in the kitchen to get into the best shape of my life.

Now, could I have done all of this without the support of a therapist and coaches? Possibly.

But would it have taken me longer, resulted in even more suffering, and wasted time doing the wrong things? Absolutely.

Contrast this with the first time I considered changing my career, my dating life, and my health.

I first seriously considered a career change at 27. It didn’t happen until I turned 31. That’s almost 4 years if you’re doing the math at home.

Contrast that with becoming a UX Writer. I enrolled in a UX Writing bootcamp, got a mentor, and worked on relevant projects that let me build my portfolio as I learned.

Thanks to this support, I had a new career in 6 months.

I first wanted a body I was proud of at 20 after seeing a guy at my college pose shirtless for a class president campaign. After many fits and starts on my fitness journey, I finally achieved my ideal body…at age 32.

Because I struggled for so long with my sexuality and didn’t come out until I turned 30, I had no avenue to tackle my anxious attachment issues until I finally gained the confidence to date.

There’s a major lesson in all of my experiences:

Stop trying to do everything yourself.

If you’re finally looking to create your dream career, accelerate your dating life, or transform your body, consider getting a dedicated coach to help you. Coaching is the key to transformation. It has been for me and thousands of others.

Have you worked with a coach? Let me know your experience in the comments.
